2025 Ram 1500 Engine Differences
Three burly engine options offer varying levels of power and precision you require for everyday hauling or off-road treks in the 2025 Ram 1500. The standard 3.6L Pentastar® V6 offers top fuel economy estimates while still making 305 horsepower. Supplementing the engine’s 269 pound-feet of torque, an eTorque belt-starter generator and a 48-volt hybrid battery provide 9 kilowatts of power and 90 pound-feet of torque available at launch — enhancing your towing experience starting after a red light or pulling your boat out of the lake after a long day on the water.
Two different output versions of the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo inline six-cylinder (I6) engine take your Ram truck performance experience to the next level. The standard-output version makes 420 horsepower and 469 pound-feet of torque, while the high-output variant tops the Ram 1500 performance charts with 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque. Highway fuel economy with the standard-output Hurricane engine is nearly identical to the Pentastar V6, but the 4x4-only configuration and performance tuning drop fuel economy for the high-output engine slightly below the standard set by the other two Ram 1500 engines. Both of these twin-turbocharged engines create their maximum outputs at significantly lower revolutions per minute (RPM) than the naturally aspirated V6.
All three Ram 1500 engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Opt for either a 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain with the Pentastar or standard-output Hurricane engine; the high-output Hurricane is paired with 4x4 only.
